Cage Rattler stepped forward from a promising Newcastle run, plugging on well for 4th in a slowly-run affair. Although not quite doing enough for the win, he confirmed that a modest Flat recruit with recent improvement in a stamina test is a viable value play.

She plugged on gamely late and held off the market-supported Sevenofus for 4th. The drop in grade and prior winning form gave her a foundation to bounce back.

This was the standout result of the day. She traveled smoothly, stayed on under pressure, and made full use of the 5-place terms. The return to hurdles off a reduced mark, and her prior Flat form, were overlooked by the market.

In large-field handicap hurdles, give more weight to horses dropping in trip/class from the Flat, especially when they have a track run or two in the notebook.
